Have you ever wondered what YTT is?
Here's a peek inside what happens during those 200 hours!
What is YTT? Why is it called Be The Love?
YTT is short for Yoga Teacher Training. Inner Bliss Yoga Studio became accredited to offer a 200 hour training in 2013. Since that time two 200-Hour Be The Love Yoga Teacher Trainings have been offered through the studio. We believe through the process of finding your voice as a teacher you become more of who you already are, which -at the core of our being- is LOVE. Inner Bliss has now graduated a total 54 yoga teachers who now get to share the love with the world!
What do the trainees learn about at YTT?
These students in this recent training spent 6 months cultivating their voices as yoga teachers. They learned how to create and teach a Power Vinyasa class with intelligent sequencing and breath direction. Time was dedicated to learning the value of giving and receiving honest feedback. They learned how to offer the gift of assisting to their student and how to honor and create sacred spaces. They participated in a daily Sadhana practice and discovered the art of living a yoga life.
IBY YTT covers anatomy, physiology and in depth pranayama (breathing) study. The 8 Limb Path of yoga is introduced and studied as well as the power of developing a meditation practice. An overview of the History & Philosophy of Yoga is covered as well as the subtle parts of the practice including, the Chakras, the Bandhas and the Vayus. Most of all, they learned to be more of who they already are!
Who is eligible to become a yoga teacher?
Anyone is eligible to apply. There is an application process and a maximum number of students accepted into the training. After students complete the 200 training hours, there are a number of requirements and objectives to complete in order to graduate.
Did all the teachers at Inner Bliss go through this training?
All of the teachers at Inner Bliss are 200-hour certified, meaning they all have completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. Some of the teachers at Inner Bliss are 500-hour certified and others have completed multiple 200-hour trainings. There are several teachers that graduated from the first Be The Love YTT that was offered in 2013/2014: Daneen Farrall, Kim Rush, Katie Brown and Mary Gallagher.
Will there be another YTT offered at Inner Bliss?
At this time there is not another YTT planned. When another training is offered it will be announced on our website, social media and in email newsletters.
Will the recent graduates be assisting or teaching at Inner Bliss?
We would love for our newest YTT graduates to assist at Inner Bliss! In order to do so, new teachers can enroll in the Inner Bliss Share the Love Assisting Program. Eligibility requires a 200-hour yoga certification plus attendance at one IBY Assisting Workshop followed by an assisting tryout with Meghan Wotsch and Jackie Quinn.
Our next assisting workshop will focus on Bends: Forwards and Back on Saturday March 10 with tryouts on Sunday March 25.
What role did the current IBY teachers play in YTT? How does YTT impact their teaching?
Tammy Lyons, Inner Bliss Studio Owner led the Be The Love YTT and was supported by the following teachers: Sally Brooks, Katie Brown, Daneen Farrall, Jackie Quinn, Kim Rush, Shannon Sabol and Marisa Tingle. Being a part of this training offers fertile ground for learning and growing, not only for the students but for the teachers too! We all are lifelong students.
