Where Magic Meets the Mountains: Inside Our Miraval Experience
Miraval is a special place - it is no accident that this is our 3rd IBY retreat at a Miraval property.
They just know how to expertly create the landscape of inner reflection with the healers on their team, the food they so graciously offer, the luxuriously comfortable accommodations and the ease with which they make all of it happen.
The life-changing impact of any retreat lies in the people.
Those who are called to step away from their day to day responsibilities and work to turn inward to reinvest in themselves - all while being held in a sacred circle of others called to do the same.
This group of women (in most cases) complete strangers, who gathered for this retreat to Miraval, opened their hearts and minds to each other, the practice of yoga and personal growth.
Surrounded by the Santa Catalina mountains and immersed in the Sonoran dessert, we searched out and talked about the GOOD!
We circled up and shared something GOOD every time we came together! We practiced being a good listener alongside speaking our truth.
We practiced sama vritti breathwork, handstands and heart openers! We hiked, danced, clapped and sang around a fire, received the medicine of cacao, dug deep to create a life-enhancing mantra to bring home and live by!
We enjoyed Yoga Nidra after practicing with the mountains as our witness and we all ate the very best, most nourishing food!
Together, we changed on a cellular level as our nervous systems synced and we shifted into a state of “rest and digest.”
As we practiced, breathed, and shared what was on our hearts, our nervous systems relaxed and the day to day stress softened.
As we sunk into the presence of being on retreat, connections deepened, laughter spread amongst us, and our bodies responded in measurable ways.
Science calls it co-regulation and epigenetic change. Yoga calls it a unifying force and shared prana. Either way, the truth is simple: experiencing the magic of Miraval together, changed us - right down to our cells.
I feel deeply honored and grateful to have been a witness to such magic between some of the best humans I have ever met!
