Kristina answers a few FAQs about TWEEN YOGA below:
What ages are eligible for Tween Yoga? Boys, girls or both? Tween yoga is specially designed for ages 8-12 (though 7yr olds are welcome too)! Both girls and boys are welcome!
Can parents come in and practice with their kids or at another class simultaneously? Parents can practice simultaneously in the large studio. It is a warm all levels, and absolutely delightful! Let your tween spend time with me and they will float their way out the studio doors!
What can kids expect to do or happen at a Tween Yoga class? Kids can expect 60 minutes of physical activity that includes a vinyasa flow including some yin poses and breath work. I try to match the energy level of the kids on that day. The last 15 minutes we have talk about a topic guided by the kids. Some topics that have been covered more recently is bullying, compassion, global issues, and anxiety.
Why is yoga beneficial for Tweens? As a special education teacher, I notice how my students forget to breathe! Yoga is beneficial for tweens because it teaches them how to use their breath when they encounter something challenging. The breath is the most important part of the practice, and the tweens certaintly love the worry bubble and bunny breath!
What do the kids need to bring with them to class? A mat, water, and towel are always recommended items to bring. But if you forget, we've got you covered at the studio :)
Tween yoga is recommended for 8-12 year olds, however kids of all ages are encouraged to attend! Classes are open to all levels of experience.
