It would be ridiculous to say that we don’t have five minutes each day to do the kind of work for ourselves that may result in a relaxed state of being, and uplifted state of emotion and just a bit more spaciousness within our minds and bodies. Of course we have five minutes to experience all of these benefits.

Take the five minutes to bliss challenge today. Right now if at all possible. Set your phone alarm to five minutes and practice the following:

5 Minutes of Stillness

This practice can be done seated or lying down. If time is a factor, set your alarm on your phone so you can completely relax into the moment.

Find a place you will not be disturbed and either sit or lay down in a comfortable position. Take the time to be sure you are comfortable. You deserve it. Use pillows, cushions, blankets or anything else you may have that feels comforting.

Close your eyes and look inside.

You may see dark at first but concentrate on what you see behind your closed eyes. You may notice colors or sparks of light or other images of sizes and shape. Let your attention rest on what you see.

Feel your body breathing you. Notice your heart beating.

And just be still. That’s it.

When your phone alarm goes off, notice how you feel. Was it worth the five minutes for yourself?
