Rewards of Yoga Multiply with Summer Heat

by Marisa Tingle

Practicing hot yoga in the summer requires a willingness to step into the fire.

As the heat builds, we forget about messy kitchens, petty arguments, and missed deadlines.

Magic happens in the moment when the sweat begins to pour off of your skin and you feel like anything is possible. Stay committed to your hot powerful flow practice this summer and experience these benefits:

Hot classes at Inner Bliss Yoga Studios: Rocky River: 90º with natural humidity Westlake: 98º with 50% humidity

  • Increased Flexibility – Heat softens up muscle tissue allowing for deeper stretching and a greater range of movement so you can go deeper into the postures.

  • Increased Athletic Performance – You experience increased endurance because your body is more efficient at cooling itself down through sweating. Hot yogis cope more effectively with the heat.

  • Detoxification – Hot yoga stimulates the lymphatic system responsible for flushing toxins from your system. Studies have shown that toxins such as BPA, phthalates, mercury, and arsenic are released in our sweat.

  • Reduced stress/increased relaxation – Practicing hot yoga reduces the amount of cortisol in the body and releases GABA, which is nature’s valium.

As the heat intensifies, the rewards multiply, so step into the fire. Don’t let a little resistance prevent you from burning through your limitations and lighting up your life!

I received my 200-hour level training from Cleveland Yoga & my 500-hour level training from LiveLoveTeach. I joined the Inner Bliss team in 2012 and am grateful for the daily challenge to open up, dig deep and choose love over fear. My classes are purposefully challenging with the intention to help students build strength and break through any self-imposed barriers.
